The federal government mandates that every state has a panel to advise the state education department about special education services. The panel must include parents. Mississippi’s panel meets via ZOOM this Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. We encourage all families interested in special education to attend virtually and consider giving public comments.
Remember, you know something very important for state systems to understand. You know what does and does not work for your child at school. You may also have ideas about expanding what works well and changing what doesn’t. Sharing your recommendations and concerns during the public comment section can help your child and other children with similar situations.
The Mississippi Department of Education shared the Special Education Advisory Panel meeting notice below. It includes the Zoom link for virtual attendance.
The Special Education Advisory Panel will meet via Zoom on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.. You may access the meeting online or by phone.
