The Mississippi Department of Human Services has announced a new Respite Voucher Program, and Families as Allies is partnering with the department to spread the word.
The program is for Mississippi family members who provide unpaid care for a person in their family of any age who has a chronic illness or a significant disability. Many of you have told us of the need for a respite care program that allows parents to take a break while their children are cared for by someone who the family loves and trusts.
This program allows families to choose the person they would like to provide respite for their family members. Families pay for the respite initially and are then reimbursed by the program.
