The Mississippi disAbility MegaConference is Mississippi’s largest cross-disability conference for people with disabilities, families, students, and professionals. Once again, due to COVID-19, the MegaConference will be held virtually on Thursday, June 17th. You can attend any or all of the sessions, and this year there are four outstanding speakers lined up who will both inform and inspire.

The conference will open for virtual sign-in at 8:30 a.m. for registrants and will start at 9 a.m. Motivational speaker Gabe Adams will give the opening presentation, entitled The Best Part of You at 9:15. Adams will share his journey with the audience and inspire them to believe in the power of their own heart, mind and body as a vehicle to achieve the impossible and live their best lives!

He will be followed by Dr. Thomas Dobbs, State Health Officer at the Mississippi State Department of Health. Dr. Dobbs will present, at 10:45, an overview of the risks associated with COVID-19, entitled Covid-19 Update and the Path Forward, and will also provide statistics and information on trends in Mississippi and the U.S, as well as the best ways to prevent COVID-19 infection and protect communities from it.

After a break for lunch, the afternoon sessions will feature Julio Cespedes, Director of Telehealth Innovation, Program Design and Implementation at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Rachel Daniels, the owner of Consulting and Counseling with Rachel.

Mr. Cespedes will deliver his presentation at 1:15 pm, entitled Healthcare’s Promising Frontier: Telehealth, which will address just what telehealth is, whether it is here to stay, and how it can continue to help Mississippians. Ms. Daniels will close the conference with a presentation at 2:45 entitled Supporting Resilience During Uncertain Timeswhich will explore individual and collective resilience, and people’s capacity to bounce back.
