September is both Suicide Prevention Month and National Recovery Month. Throughout the month we will be sharing recovery and suicide prevention stories that you share with us. Please feel free to share yours.
We begin the month by sharing this story that one of our former interns, Ronn Pierce, shared with us. It features his friend and colleague, Robin Minyard.
From the article: “The loss of her son and husband inspired Minyard to pursue her master’s degree in social work, so she could become a counselor in the areas of individual therapy, group therapy, substance use disorders and crisis intervention.”
Ronn told HottyToddy.com, “I had the opportunity to be her supervisor while she was an intern with the Oxford Treatment Center. You would be hard-pressed to find someone with a more understanding ear or a bigger work ethic. Robin is already a dedicated and talented advocate. She will soon be an excellent counselor.”
