The Mississippi disAbility MegaConference is Mississippi’s largest cross-disability conference for people with disabilities, families, students, and professionals.
Presenters, sponsors, and exhibitors will share the latest information and innovations on many topics. Speakers David Hale, Jill Jacobs, and Dwight Owens inform and inspire participants.
-
- Born and raised in South Mississippi, David Hale survived a wreck when he was 16 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He tells his story of going from depressed, addicted and homeless to earning a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, serving as a counselor and motivational speaker with the mission to spread joy.
-
- Jill Jacobs became commissioner of ACL’s Administration on Disabilities in February of this year after more than two decades of work in disability service organizations and policing positions, working toward improved services for those with disabilities from all levels of government.
-
- At the age of 23, Dwight Owens was in a horrible car accident when an elderly drunk driver left him with many injuries, including paralysis. Dwight is now an award-winning motivational speaker in Mississippi and elsewhere, currently pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The conference will take place June 16-17th at the Jackson Hilton. Continuing education credits are offered in several areas. A listening session to give input to the mental health lawsuit monitoring team is being planned. For more info or to register, click here.
