Every time there is a fifth Wednesday in a month, we go live at noon to hear your feedback and questions, share what’s been going on at Families as Allies and update you on current issues. So we will be Live at noon on November 30 and hope you will join us on Facebook or YouTube.
Families as Allies is about ALL of us, so we will respond to and include anything you want to share. You can share while we are live, or you can submit feedback in advance to info@faams.org or 601-355-0915. We will also discuss different school issues that tend to be expected this time of year and ways to deal with them, including:
- Being asked to come to pick up your child for their behavior without the school suspending them;
- Being told by the schools that your child needs a risk assessment due to being at risk for harming themselves or someone else;
- Being required to get your child an evaluation for therapy or medication before you can bring them back to school;
- The school suspended or expelled your child before the holiday break, and you are unsure what will happen when they return.
We encourage families dealing with these issues, and educators and medical and mental health providers helping families with these situations to join us.
We are very excited that Brooke Guyton, the Project Director of CHAMP for Schools, a program that offers free virtual consults to educators on how to approach mental health issues, will join us. She will share how CHAMP can provide support with behavioral situations in schools.
We hope to see everyone at noon on November 30!
