Sheldon Smith has worked with Families as Allies since January 2016. He began with the BUDS early childhood project, where he did administrative assistant and family-partner work. His friendly and relatable personality and deep roots in Jackson made him a natural fit for outreach to families in different parts of the city.
When BUDS ended, Sheldon took on the role of Coordinator for Family-Driven Practice for Families as Allies. He coordinated our operational tasks, continued to respond to families and ensured that the details of training were covered.
Sheldon was recently offered a position in the Washington, D.C. area, so Families as Allies and Mississippi will be losing him soon. We wish him well and will certainly miss his warm personality and sense of humor.
It has also been a delight to get to know Sheldon’s wife, Keishawna, who has done contractual work with us, and their always entertaining and insightful children Trinitee and DeShawn. We wish all of them the very best and are very grateful to them for all they have shared with Families as Allies.
Good luck Sheldon…you were always very helpful and funny.
Thanks so much for everything.
I miss y’all already
