We are excited to share with you that thanks to a grant from our national organization, the National Federation of Families, we have the opportunity to produce a video about vaccine hesitancy. We are even more excited to share with you that we hope the approach of this video is unifying and encouraging.
Families as Allies’ first core value is every child and family. We explain this value this way – We promise that we will not judge or blame you, and we will stand with you if you feel judged or blamed by others. We want this video to convey how relationships and acceptance, not judgment and blame, support people in making decisions about getting vaccinated.
If you have a story to tell about how a relationship, someone’s kindness or a listening ear helped you to make a decision about you or your child being vaccinated, we want to hear from you. If there are things you wish people understood about your concerns or worries about you or your child being vaccinated, we want to hear from you. If you have thoughts or feelings about your child being too young to be vaccinated, we want to hear from you. Anyone with input can call us at 601-355-0915 or email us at info@faams.org.
Video conversations will be filmed between now and the end of October. They will be done virtually. If you participate in the video, it will likely take about thirty minutes of your time to visit with us at some point before your video is filmed and then about 30 – 45 minutes of your time on the day your video is filmed. You can receive a stipend for your time unless you are doing your video clip as part of your work time for a job you are already being paid for.
You will have the chance to decide whether or not you want your remarks to be in video. The finished video will be shared publicly and on social media with the goal of understanding how to decrease vaccine hesitancy through relationships and listening to each other.
If you would like to learn more about being part of this project or if you have suggestions or questions for us, please contact us at 601-355-0915 or info@faams.org.
