Join the National Family Support Technical Assistance Center (NFSTAC) to learn more about the privacy protections for substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health (MH) information, including how families and caregivers can:

  • Identify how federal health privacy laws protect individuals’ SUD and MH treatment information, especially when family members are involved in care
  • Understand how individuals receiving services and their families can work together in a way that supports recovery and respects the individual’s privacy and their individual choices
  • Recognize key points for individuals and families to consider when sharing or requesting SUD/MH treatment information
