Mark your calendars for the Institute for Disability Studies Summer Enrichment Academy! In-person options in Hattiesburg and Long Beach. There will also be a virtual option. This year's theme is Star Wars: "Be the force in your career! May your skills be with you!"

FREE SUMMER CAMP

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Summer is almost here, which could mean summer camp for the kids.

The Hattiesburg Police Athletic League (PAL) will offer a free day camp for children, ages 8 to 12, from June 3 to July 12.

The six-week PAL summer camp program offers kids the opportunity to learn new skills; participate in physical activities, like basketball and baseball; and build relationships with their peers and local officers.

Those looking to apply can visit the Ben McNair Recreation Center, located at 300 N. 12th Avenue, during the following days and times this week:

▪️ Monday, May 13: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
▪️ Tuesday, May 14: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
▪️ Wednesday, May 15: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Arc of Mississippi and Project START have collaborated to showcase not only Mississippi's latest assistive technology but also national speakers to inform of the technology tools for today to assist individuals with disabilities to live independently.

Children and Lead: What You Don’t Know Can Hurt Them

Children under 6 are the most vulnerable to the effects of lead poisoning. The good news is that lead poisoning is 100% preventable. In this fun and informative session, participants will learn about the dangers of lead, common sources of lead, lead exposure prevention, and community resources for families.

Greater Bethlehem Temple 3rd annual Community Fair

This is a free community event to encourage healthy lifestyle prevent & manage disease, educate, inform and connect to resources.

There will be Activities and Resources for the entire families with a special celebrations for the children and an educational program for our seniors. All ages are welcome. Free food !!

Free set up for all vendors and exhibitors. There will be door prizes and giveaways.

COJ Summer Feed Program

June 10 - July 12 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

To ensure no child goes hungry this summer, the City of Jackson hosts a Summer Feeding Program for Jackson residents aged 0 to 18. The program will be in operation from June 10th to July 12th and will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Meals will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
