Make A Plan (MAP) Teams, established by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, are groups of community agencies, families and individuals who work together to ensure that families of children with the most significant mental health needs get the support they need to help their children be able to stay at home and in their communities. MAP Teams work together with families to find non-traditional partners and approaches to address their child’s needs in the ways that are most helpful to families and children. Teams also have access to flexible funds to accomplish these goals.

You can learn more about MAP Teams on pages 9 and 10 of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health’s Children and Youth Services Directory, and the pages that follow list the contact information for MAP Teams throughout the state.

The Hinds County MAP Team has been meeting monthly for several years under the direction of Catholic Charities.  We are grateful to the team at Catholic Charities, especially Carol Warfield and Kimberle Neal, for their many years of hard work and leadership facilitating the team.

Leadership of the team transitioned to Families as Allies in July 2020. Henry Moore is now the Hinds County MAP team facilitator and looks forward to working with and learning from all of you. The team meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 1:30 – 3 PM.  Meetings are currently virtual. We invite any of you who would like to learn more about the MAP Team or become part of it to contact Henry at 601-355-0915 or hmoore@faams.org.

We would especially like to hear from families who think extra support would help their child live at home with them instead of ending up in a hospital, residential or detention setting. We are also eager to hear from families who would like to be part of the team to share their perspectives on how systems and agencies can work better together and partner with families to make things as responsive as possible to our children. Families, please contact Henry Moore if you would like to be involved with the Hinds County MAP Team. You can reach him at hmoore@faams.org or 601-355-0915.
