Join us for a Learning Lunch About Patient-Centered Outcomes Research on March 28

Families as Allies is helping the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and other partners design a research proposal to submit to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) about the best types of mental health treatment for children ages birth to 21. The final proposal will focus on comparing treatment approaches for a specific condition.

One of PCORI’s core values is that researchers should partner with the people a project is about. The local team working on this wants to partner with families through every step of this proposal and project. We welcome any interested clinicians, researchers, policymakers or system partners to join us. Our door is wide open, and it’s OK if you don’t quite understand everything about this approach yet. We are all learning together!

We have an excellent opportunity to learn more about this research approach. Please join us for a learning lunch on Friday, March 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hinds Behavioral Health’s conference center (3450 US-80, Jackson, MS 39209 – park and enter on the east side of the building). Mabel Crescioni, Senior Engagement Officer from PCORI, will share some background on PCORI, Comparative Effectiveness Research, Multisector Stakeholder Engagement, how families and community partners can be part of this work, and more.

Here is a team-learning resource from PCORI entitled: “Building Multisector Collaboration.”  It is a guide we could follow as a team on our journey. Please consider reviewing this guide so we may discuss ideas on March 28 and other meetings.

Everyone is welcome, but registration is required. Stipends are available for families to attend. Please get in touch with our office for more information about stipends.
