The Mississippi disAbility MegaConference is Mississippi’s largest cross-disability conference for people with disabilities, families, students, and professionals. The conference will be held June 6th and 7th at the County Line Hilton in Jackson. You can register here.
There will be some fantastic speakers, including Kristin Smedley, who has two sons who were born blind. She has advocated for them, gotten national legislation passed to increase awareness about rare eye diseases and created the only patient organization in the world for rare eye diseases.
Jonathan Martinis, another speaker, “is the Senior Director for Law and Policy for the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University, leading its efforts to ensure that older adults and people with disabilities have access to the services and supports they need to lead independent, inclusive lives.” He’s done trailblazing work in supported decision-making.
Maggie Wade, the local news anchor, is a speaker as well.
Limited hotel stipends are available, and respite for children with disabilities is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
