The National Wraparound Initiative published English and Spanish versions of the revised and updated Wraparound Process User’s Guide: A Handbook for Families. The Guide explains what families can expect from Wraparound and how the process should unfold. It also explains what different words related to wraparound mean.
Wraparound is a way of coordinating care for children and youth with significant mental health needs. Families work with wraparound coordinators to assemble teams, services and supports that meet their unique needs.
Wraparound care coordination is based on each family’s values and goals and should always be individualized to what families say is most important to them. Mississippi state law says that Wraparound care coordination should be available to your child and family if your child has significant mental health needs that would typically require a residential level of care (such as Millcreek, Cares, or Youth Villages residential).
If your child qualifies for Wraparound, your family should be able to choose the organization you would like to provide Wraparound. That organization can help you assemble a team to deliver the services your child needs to do well at home and in the community. You should be able to choose your team and services from wherever you want and not feel pressured to select services from the organization doing Wraparound with you.
