Each year, our calls increase when school starts as families try to figure out how to deal with special education issues. We shared these suggestions and resources in August 2023, which remain relevant one year later.
We also have three updates:
- We now have a dedicated parent concern line: 601-608-7525. (Anyone calling for another reason should call our main number at 601-355-0915.)
- We have supported families filing formal state complaints in the special education system for several years. We are now considering filing complaints as an organization, including ones based on what happens to groups of families. Feel free to let us know if you have suggestions about this.
- We joined a statewide special education coalition of legal, advocacy and family-run organizations. The coalition works to support students and families and increase legal representation in the state. We will be sure to keep you posted.
