Don’t forget! Our Community Partnership Celebration is Monday, February 24, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at BRAVO! Italian Restaurant. Tickets and sponsorships are still available, so please join us and spread the word about this joyful evening.
We have so much to celebrate as a community: our children and our love for them, our partnership and support for each other, and all we accomplish when we stand together. This week, we share some of the special partnerships from this past year that we celebrate:
- Along with other organizations, we partnered with the Mississippi Harm Reduction Initiative (MHRI) for Recovery Day 2024. We are grateful that this led to legislation that allows nonprofits to distribute life-saving medication for opioid overdoses. By working with MHRI, we’ve reached more families affected by substance use disorders, getting us closer to our ultimate goal of no more children dying from opioid overdoses.
- The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program at the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) asked us to develop and implement a curriculum to train families to advocate for their babies with hearing loss. Developing this training was a fantastic opportunity, and as always, we learned as much from the families in the training as they did for us. We appreciate EHDI’s and MSDH’s confidence in us and hope our partnership continues to grow!
- Along with the rest of the Hinds County Children’s Coalition members, we were honored when Hinds County officials recognized us as the Hinds County Youth Court Champion of the Year. This award recognized the coalition’s community-based, solutions-focused approaches to child safety and the well-being of youth and families in Hinds County.
- We supported the Mississippi Division of Medicaid in establishing its Beneficiary Advisory Group. We believe that this group and the sincere and hard work the Medicaid staff put into establishing it have the potential to make the Medicaid system more patient-centered and family-driven.
These are just some of the partnerships that made last year special. Please join us in celebrating all of them. Again, the date is Monday, February 24, for our 11th Annual Community Partnership Celebration at 5:00 p.m. There is still time to purchase tickets and sponsorships! Please help us celebrate these remarkable award recipients and all we can accomplish as we work together for our children.
