This week, two of our leadership training participants—Jackie Easley and Haley Pridmore—join Joy Hogge, Henry Moore, and Coreaner Price from Families as Allies to discuss their experience from the leadership training opportunities that Families as Allies offers to parents and caregivers. Haley, who works in peer support at Community Counseling Services, started working with Families as Allies just in the past few months. Jackie, a grandparent of a child with mental health challenges, went right from leadership training into a situation where she facilitated a training session for leaders. Both expressed the fact that going through leadership training helped them better serve others by empowering the parents and caregivers they work with to take on the challenges of getting services and communicating the needs of their children within educational and healthcare systems.
